SALEDRESS GIVING 💚

Second Chance,

New Hope

Saledress connect Amazon sellers with local organizations that support people in need by donating unsellable Amazon products (in mint condition).  This helps to reduce waste, support local communities, and make a difference in the world.
Unsellable products: A growing problem
A 2022 report by the National Retail Federation (NRF) found that 16.6% of all purchases made in the United States are returned, and that clothing has the highest return rate of any category, at 28%.

If we assume that Amazon's return rate for clothing is similar to the national average, then that means that approximately 100 million clothing items are returned to Amazon each year. Of those, it is estimated that only about 25% (25 million) are resellable. This means that the remaining 50 million clothing items are not resellable and must be disposed of in some way.

There are a number of reasons why returned clothing may not be resellable. Some items may be damaged or defective, while others may be out of season or no longer in style. Still others may have been worn or used, even if they were returned within the allowable return window.

Amazon uses a variety of methods to dispose of returned clothing that is not resellable. Some items may be donated to charity, while others may be recycled or sold to liquidators. However, it is also estimated that a significant portion of returned clothing (up to 30%) is simply thrown away.

The disposal of returned clothing is a growing environmental problem. The production of clothing requires a significant amount of resources, including water, energy, and chemicals. When clothing is thrown away, it ends up in landfills, where it can take hundreds of years to decompose.

Our Solution: Recycle, Reuse, Reduce

Our project collects unsellable products from Amazon sellers and donates them to our giving partners, who put them in the hands of those who need them most. This helps to reduce waste, support local communities, and make a difference in the world.

Are Amazon unsellable products defective?

No, not necessarily. Amazon unsellable products are typically returned items that are in good condition but cannot be resold for various reasons:

  • Missing parts or accessories.
  • No longer in stock.
  • Incorrect size or color.
  • Damaged item

What types of products does Saledress donate?

We currently donates a variety of products, including clothing, electronics, home goods, and more. However, the majority of donations are clothing. **Clothing donations are typically in good condition, with a rating of 9.5 out of 10. However, it is possible that some clothing donations may be damaged.
